December is going to be quite quiet for Eva and I. I have a few work nights out and of course christmas presents to buy, I also tend to give Eva her usual two weeks off over Christmas as I think its good to give them a break every now and again. There is some [...]

Driving home for Christmas…❄☃️

21/12/201721/12/2017 TheScottishEquestrianLeave a comment

In the run up to Christmas it has gotten a little busy around here. I have finally sent out my Christmas cards at the start of this week and I am going to buy all the presents on Friday and do a bunch of household chores before I drive to my parents house for Christmas. [...]

"Due to temperatures dropping to minus -5 overnight and despite all the efforts to keep the outdoor arena rideable we have been left with no alternative but to cancel today's show. We'd like to apologies for this but for health and safety reasons and welfare of horses and riders we have no choice" Oh well [...]

Clipping …

20/10/201719/10/2017 TheScottishEquestrian7 Comments

As winter draws in it is time for a clip, something I love when it has been done but dread in the run up to. As much as I would love Eva to have a full clip or a hunter clip this is just not on our Evas schedule. Since Eva gets friendly with her [...]

Winter is Coming (Rugging your horse)

15/09/201712/10/2018 TheScottishEquestrian11 Comments

My vet recently posted this in regards to rugging your horse. We're seeing a lot more rugs appearing in fields over the last week or so. If you're tempted to rug your horse consider the following and be honest with yourself. - if my horse/pony is obese, unclipped and lives out he/she does not require [...]

Madam had a duvet day since the fields were recovering from all the rain. ☔ So after a session in the indoor working on our canter we headed out for a wee wander to stretch her legs 🐎 - #equestrian #equine #horse #horsesofinstagram #horseriding #horseoftheday #chestnutmare #irishsportshorse #equestrianlife #mare #vsco #horsesofinsta #horseworld #bestofequines #equestriansofinstagram
Tonight we started off bouncing on the spot and spooking but by the end we were clearing some 1.10s🐎🐎😊 - When I first went into the arena I wasn't even planning on jumping the bigger jumps and put half of them down then as we warmed up she was jumping so well I decided to turn into one of the bigger jumps and it was the best jump of the session. In fact she felt like she was jumping the bigger ones far better than the smaller ones!! 🤔 - #equestrian #equine #horse #horsesofinstagram #horseriding #horseoftheday #showjump #showjumping #chestnutmare #irishsportshorse #equestrianlife #mare #vsco
I hate that it gets dark early but the sunsets are bute ❤️ Evas in early today as I'm off for another dinner out this evening 🌃 - #equestrian #equine #horse #horsesofinstagram #horseriding #horseoftheday #chestnutmare #irishsportshorse #equestrianlife #mare #winter #cold
Throw back to our last SJ round we did. Annoyingly enough we had a silly pole down - entirely my fault - so didn't get through to the jump off. 😔 - I was planning on riding tonight but like an idiot I forgot my jods and getting on in the pencil skirt from work just wasn't an option! 🙈 I normally have a spare in my car but I cleared my car out at the weekend since I'm getting it cleaned on Friday 😅 ah well I put Mrs on the walker and turned up to speed a little so she had to march along rather than her normal saunter 🐎 - #equestrian #equine #horse #horsesofinstagram #horseriding #horseoftheday #showjump #showjumping #chestnutmare #irishsportshorse #equestrianlife #mare #vsco
