2019

08/01/201907/01/2019 TheScottishEquestrian2 Comments

I'm a bit late this year with the obligatory goals for this year post. Part of the reason was I couldn't decide what to put down and another part was I didn't want to put what I really want down because I don't want to jinx it. Does that sound paranoid? Anyway... Let's start with [...]

Horses of Instagram // My Instagram

I've been wanting to write about equestrian Instagram for a while now but never really settled on how or what aspect of Instagram to focus on. So today I am focusing on how I run my Instagram overall. Personally I really enjoy Instagram, and while I wish my feed was some sort of aesthetically pleasing master [...]

December is going to be quite quiet for Eva and I. I have a few work nights out and of course christmas presents to buy, I also tend to give Eva her usual two weeks off over Christmas as I think its good to give them a break every now and again. There is some [...]

Clipping…

11/11/2018 TheScottishEquestrianLeave a comment

Eva is not a fan of getting clipped. In short she hates being tickled so will barrel over anyone that does anything remotely tickley. A horse was getting clipped on the yard a few weeks ago and she was standing at the back of her stable having a bit of a snort at the whole [...]

Don’t Break your Vet! – A follow up

17/10/201828/10/2018 TheScottishEquestrianLeave a comment

(Previous - Dont Break your Vet) At the start of this year I posted about a learning week that the BEVA (British Equine Veterinary Association) launched called "Don't Break Your Vet". One of the the topics covered was easy injections. If you haven't seen the video it basically is a method of rewarding and releasing [...]

Tonight we started off bouncing on the spot and spooking but by the end we were clearing some 1.10s🐎🐎😊 - When I first went into the arena I wasn't even planning on jumping the bigger jumps and put half of them down then as we warmed up she was jumping so well I decided to turn into one of the bigger jumps and it was the best jump of the session. In fact she felt like she was jumping the bigger ones far better than the smaller ones!! 🤔 - #equestrian #equine #horse #horsesofinstagram #horseriding #horseoftheday #showjump #showjumping #chestnutmare #irishsportshorse #equestrianlife #mare #vsco
I hate that it gets dark early but the sunsets are bute ❤️ Evas in early today as I'm off for another dinner out this evening 🌃 - #equestrian #equine #horse #horsesofinstagram #horseriding #horseoftheday #chestnutmare #irishsportshorse #equestrianlife #mare #winter #cold
Throw back to our last SJ round we did. Annoyingly enough we had a silly pole down - entirely my fault - so didn't get through to the jump off. 😔 - I was planning on riding tonight but like an idiot I forgot my jods and getting on in the pencil skirt from work just wasn't an option! 🙈 I normally have a spare in my car but I cleared my car out at the weekend since I'm getting it cleaned on Friday 😅 ah well I put Mrs on the walker and turned up to speed a little so she had to march along rather than her normal saunter 🐎 - #equestrian #equine #horse #horsesofinstagram #horseriding #horseoftheday #showjump #showjumping #chestnutmare #irishsportshorse #equestrianlife #mare #vsco
Foot inspection from Eva last night 👣 Probably trying to figure out how she can get my spurs off so she can start ignoring my leg again 🙈 - Brrr its cold! ❄️ Definitely the season for wrapping up at the yard when mucking out after work! Winter is why I like having some over sized jumpers so that I can layer like crazy 😅 - #equestrian #equine #horse #horsesofinstagram #horseriding #horseoftheday #chestnutmare #irishsportshorse #equestrianlife #mare #vsco #winter
